What your job will be like:
Are you a born communicator who is excited by the power of science? We are now inviting communication students to join us as the newest Communications Office Student Intern for a year-round opportunity. In this role, you will support our mission through various channels such as news releases, social media, and internal memos to help spread the word about the latest happenings at the lab. We’re looking for content creators who are handy with a camera and know a thing or two about special events. If you have a flair for championing external marketing campaigns and supporting internal communications programs, this is for you!

In this role, you will:

  • Write meaningful content that will allow you to show your creativity, passion and professionalism.
  • Engage in a wide range of communications efforts while learning the ins and outs of public relations with an award-winning team.
  • Learn about and produce professional social media content for community engagement.
  • Explore and develop proficiency in posting website content in the Drupal content management system.
  • Grow your portfolio and develop new skills that will help you jump-start your career in communications.
  • Must be available to work on-site 18-20 hours per week during school sessions and 40 hours per week between school sessions (ex: spring break, summer break, and winter break)

Qualifications We Require:

  • Full-time college student majoring in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing with a GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Candidate must be a US citizen

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to write lively, accurate and interesting non-fiction content.
  • Can work effectively individually and with a team
  • Willing to learn and apply new skills.
  • Basic mastery of Microsoft software products.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Familiarity with AP Stylebook is a plus.
  • Social media experience in a professional, volunteer or non-profit setting preferred but not required.
  • Photography/Videography skills are a plus.
