What your job will be like:
Under the supervision of the Hall D Work Coordinator, the successful candidate will assist in the fabrication, assembly, installation and testing of various detectors, magnets, magnet control systems, power supplies and hardware infrastructure in the Hall D complex. This person will also be expected to supply technical support during experimental operations, including the operation, maintenance and documentation of the Hall D systems. Successful candidates will be provided training to meet job expectations.

In this role you will:

  • Fabricate, assemble, install / test basic electronic systems powered by DC voltages.
  • Troubleshoot DC circuits, relay control functions, analog isolation modules and cabling
  • Interpret basic schematic diagrams, be able to interpret mechanical engineering drawings to identify measurements and component hardware
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of the various Hall D cabled components, associated wired connections and supporting infrastructure
  • Provide assistance in the installation and maintenance of the various mechanical components as well as the supporting hardware
  • Must be available for on call Hall D emergencies during installation and experimentation runs. Be on call in rotation for various pieces of Hall equipment, and on call 24/7 for Hall D systems

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in electronics & machine maintenance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates basic skills, knowledge and ability in one technology trade or specialty
  • Working knowledge of electronic controlled devices
  • Demonstrates ability to understand instruction, ask questions and report to supervisor clearly on problems, progress and status
  • Solid reasoning or judgement skills to perform assigned task
  • Use of electrical measurement devices: Digital multimeter, amp meter & bench top DCV power supply.
  • Proven proficiency in the use of common hand tools, (drills, saws etc.)
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical machine assembly
  • Must have an active drivers' license
