What your job will be like:
The SRF Chemistry Supervisor leads the Cavity Processing Production Chemistry Group and will be responsible for the supervision of a work group of chemistry technicians responsible for the preparation of cavities and parts before assembly, welding, and/or testing as well as other duties as assigned. This will include, but not be limited to the surface finishing, cleaning, and chemical etching of parts, components, and cavities. The individual will be required to develop and promulgate verbal, written, and graphic procedures in a laboratory and clean room environment. They will be responsible for the organization and quality of the group's work. Tasks require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), a clean room suit, hand tools, precision measurement tools, and custom fixtures.

In this role you will:

  • Work alone or in collaboration with others in a fast-paced, low-volume Production or R&D environment.
  • Clean and inspect cavities, parts, and associated components to SRF standards using ultra high vacuum ultra-sonic cleaning techniques and high-pressure rinsing.
  • Chemically etch materials such as niobium, copper, and stainless steel for surface finish using chemical cleaning and acid etching techniques such as buffered chemical polish (BCP), and electro-polish (EP) treatment activities including hands-on responsibility of cavity processing through the BCP and EP facilities.
  • Polish and lap material surfaces according to surface finish specifications set by the project.
  • Preform preventative maintenance on equipment and provide support for all chemistry group processing activities.
  • Document and maintain records of work performed in both written and electronic logbooks. Interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present conclusions.
  • Understand requirements and materials needed to complete assigned tasks, plans their own work and can coordinate with other in the group.
  • Identify issues or conflicts and provide solutions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work areas in order to facilitate efficient productivity and promote a safe work environment.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner and lead others in completing defined tasks.
  • Conform and comply to laboratory ESH and IH policies. Ensure all work is carried out with attention to environmental impact; minimize waste and hazards in a manner consistent with laboratory policy.
  • Interact with others in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance.
  • Work off-hours and weekends as required by management, occasionally with minimal notice.

Qualifications We Require

Education:

  • High School Diploma

Experience:

  • 12 years of hands-on Chemistry experience in a production environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Mentor, train, and lead others to complete projects and meet schedules.
  • Ability to make decisions to establish or modify guidelines.
  • Acquire and maintain all training required to perform daily activities and comply with all applicable safety procedures.
  • Work in a diverse environment with a broad spectrum of people and personalities.
  • Document work performed in electronic and paper log books.

Qualifications We Desire:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry

Experience:

  • 2 or more years supervising junior chemistry technicians
