What your job will be like:
Jefferson Lab’s RF Group is seeking an RF Electronics Technician to support senior staff in the implementation, maintenance, and repair of RF and electronic systems utilizing both analog and digital technologies. Key responsibilities include testing and repairing printed circuit boards, performing soldering and chassis wiring, and fabricating and installing field cables. The ideal candidate will be proficient with basic hand tools and demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude while working under supervision. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to advanced accelerator technologies in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
In this role you will:
- Diagnose, repair, and calibrate analog and digital electronic modules down to the component level by following verbal and written instructions
- Provide real-time operational support for existing RF systems, including on-call support during CEBAF beam operations
- Assist in the installation, testing, and upgrading of RF systems under the guidance of supervisors or senior technical staff
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to support troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of RF and electronic hardware
- Assemble, test, and calibrate electronics within chassis assemblies and on printed circuit boards (PCBs), applying fundamental electronics skills
- Conduct preventative maintenance on electronic components and related system assemblies to ensure operational reliability
Qualifications We Require
Education
- High School Diploma
Experience
- 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Education above the minimum may be substituted
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Capability to use electrical schematics to troubleshoot electronics components
- Knowledge of electrical measurement equipment including handheld meters, oscilloscopes and analyzers
- Some proficiency in various applications of electrical measure equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in repair, testing and calibration of electronic equipment
- Ability to lead minor repair and testing efforts
