What your job will be like:

Manage the Accelerator Computing Environment (ACE) team, the group that provides computing system infrastructure, computer system administration, and network management for all facilities operated and managed by the Accelerator Operations Department. Plan, guide, and provide direction for large, highly complex, multi-person projects. Manage budgets, mentor and supervise staff, and set strategic plans that are aligned with Accelerator Division and Laboratory goals. Oversee projects to assure compliance with budgetary, technical, and schedule goals.

In this role you will:

  • Execute and lead system administration and network management projects that support and enhance the Accelerator Computing Environment. This includes improving the functionality, security, and reliability of all Operations Department managed control system computers and networks.
  • Serve as project manager for budgets related to systems required to run the accelerator control system facilities and the associated support systems and computers for all accelerator division staff. This includes hardware infrastructure, computers and peripherals, VMWare, software components and licensing, networking equipment.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide for the training needs of ACE staff. Ensure ACE labor resources are commensurate with the group's responsibilities.
  • Identify and mitigate cybersecurity threats to Accelerator Operations networks and systems. Work with CST to assure cybersecurity strategy is aligned.
  • Ensure on-call support is provided for all ACE managed control system computers, networks, and desktops.
  • Working with ACG and Accelerator Operations leadership, identify and pursue strategic goals that support the mission of Accelerator Division and the Laboratory.

Qualifications We Require

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant information technology field.

Experience

  • 10 or more years working in an operation research environment.
  • 10 or more years managing technical projects in a computing environment.
  • Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in a computer system administration and network management environment that operates 24/7.
  • Functional knowledge of accelerator operations and all of the major technical systems at CEBAF, ie., RF, magnets, beam diagnostics, etc.
