What your job will be like:

The Hall A team is seeking a motivated technical staff member to join our team to play a vital role in the coordination of design, build, install and test of various detector prototypes, initial engineering test systems and detector component tests in support of Hall A. You will have an opportunity to learn, develop, and perfect your skills in completion of multiple complex projects.

In this role you will:

  • Design, build and test of various test setups and engineering test systems for detector tracking, particle identification, and ancillary beam line detectors. Components include vacuum systems, precision mechanical systems, detectors and readout systems.
  • Coordinate work within the assigned work areas for Hall A. This includes scheduling, planning, reviewing (ES&H), and completing installation and maintenance of equipment within the detector test areas and associated equipment staging, preparation, and storage areas.
  • Lead other electro-mechanical technicians to help design, build, install and maintain Hall A-related equipment.
  • At a later Hall A project phase, responsibility will move to detector development with emphasis on Particle Identification and tracking (Si and MPGD) detectors and controls; preparation of particle identification detector component QA testing stations, preparation of Si testing station tasks as part of an international Si consortium efforts; provide service to MPGD-led efforts at Jefferson Lab in collaboration with user community (GEMs, MMs). Test and QA of detector elements (foils, sensors, on-board electronics), develop controls and documentation.
  • Must be availability for on-call support and provide guidance to staff as needed.

Qualifications We Require:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate with 12 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates track record of successfully leading or managing a multiple person group or project
  • Ability to provide direction to ensure sufficient resources are available to meet project demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to plan and execute long term work schedule based on scope of work
