What your job will be like:

The Accelerator Operations, Research & Development Division is seeking an SRF Engineering Manager. The SRF Operations Department is responsible for the design, production, refurbishment, test and installation of superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) cavities and cryomodules, and all beam line vacuum for CEBAF, LERF and UITF. The department also produces and tests SRF cavities, parts and cryomodules for R&D projects and for other national and international facilities such as the Spallation Neutron Source, Oak Ridge, and the Linac Coherent Light Source-II, Stanford. In this role you will:

  • Lead and manage groups of engineers, designers, and technicians which provides engineering services to all technical programs at the SRF Institute
  • Direct staff to deliver laboratory commitments to the CEBAF program and the portfolio of SRF construction and S&T projects
  • Foster and encourage constructive partnerships with other technical divisions to further the goals of the CEBAF, SRF S&T, SRF Operations and other laboratory priorities pertaining to SRF
  • Participate in initiatives towards a Systems Engineering framework for Jefferson Lab, in coordination with the other Science and Technology divisions
  • Support overall SRF Operations, Construction and S&T project goals and technical performance within cost and schedule requirements
  • Lead and participate in quality management processes under the ISO 9001:2015 certification

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

  • Bachelors in Engineering from an accredited university

Experience:

  • 15 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Consistently demonstrates extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity and creativity.
  • Develops and applies advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts. Routinely demonstrates a broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of specialty.
  • Widely recognized as a technical expert within the professional community. Accomplishments contribute to state of the art field in the area of expertise both within and outside the lab.
  • Able to effectively train people outside his/her work group.
  • Able to give effective presentations to critical/high level customers and effectively represent work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams.
  • Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
