Our Computational Science and Technology division provides advanced computational tools and solutions to support an ecosystem of scientists, researchers, engineers, and staff. We are on the cusp of a new program that will accelerate the speed of scientific discovery through data stewardship and management, and next-gen computational capabilities. As part of CST and this ground-breaking project, your managerial talent will be integral in helping us gather and prioritize requirements, clarify and manage to the scope and alternatives, and solidify the project’s financials. In this role you will...

  • Support the HPDF leadership team in the implementation of HPDF mission and goals.
  • Work closely with the HPDF leadership team and the DOE Federal Project Director to develop supportive project management relationships, processes, and strategies.
  • Able to intake, prioritize, and manage complex project requirements across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the management, technical, operational, and business organizations to set the project up for success under the framework and review processes of DoEO413.3b.
  • Supports development, implementation and ensure integrated effectiveness of all aspects of the HPDF project management efforts, including project planning, scheduling and budgeting; project management controls, information and reporting systems, including earned value management, risk management, and contingency management.
  • Assist with performance baseline and change management
  • Understands, and is able to establish key project performance parameters, and track success against them
  • Able to resolve complex inter-and intra-organizational conflicts relating to schedule, scope, cost, budget; drives project forward toward achieving goals within agreed ranges
  • Generate, analyze, and model performance reports, metrics, and forecasts
  • Interface with the PSSO and other operational organizations on controls functions such as budget preparation and analysis, scheduling, and risk modeling. Prepare project budgets, analyses of alternatives, and financial models.
  • Pivot information and coordination among operational matrix support organizations and the project team(s).
  • Help define and effectively use software toolsets and able to implement and improve management processes

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 15 years of project-management-related experience on large scale, complex projects
  • DoE/DoD or other government contracting project-related experience required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior attention to detail, communication, and coordination skills
  • Versatile, and able to simultaneously handle multiple assignments
  • Confidence to work both independently and with all levels of executive leadership, researchers, and staff in a team-based, but frequently virtual environment
  • Advanced skills in solving problems and driving solutions, particularly in ambiguous, initiation and planning phases.
  • Customer service mindset for interacting with and assisting Users in requirements gathering and prioritization
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience creating, managing, analyzing, and reporting project financial information; skilled with MS office suite; versatile across software tools and platforms
  • Remote work is allowable for this position, with the expectation of flexibility for occasional travel for events, workshops, reviews, etc.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Project management or earned value management qualifications or demonstrated related experience
  • Government experience, particularly financial, will be very helpful for this position
