What your job will be like:

As the Manager of Conventional Facilities Project Management, you will work self-supervised to provide leadership and management to the Conventional Facility Project Management department. You will have overall responsibility for conventional facility projects and ensuring Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) requirements are followed. In this role, you will be responsible for the Conventional Facilities Project Management department’s successful execution of each assigned project through coordination with the Project Manager and utilizing an integrated Construction Project Management approach.

In this role you will:

  • Serve as the Project Director for assigned projects, and manages the execution of projects to ensure completion within the approved performance baseline (cost, schedule and technical scope).
  • Ensure that required and effective project management and control systems are developed, deployed, and implemented to successfully manage and assess the project performance.
  • Ensure project activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Ensure ES&H responsibilities and requirements are integrated into all stages of conventional facility projects.
  • Oversee project program, design, fabrication, installation, construction, and commissioning requirements.
  • Represent the project in interactions regarding conventional facilities with the Lab Project Services and Support Office.
  • Participate in management meetings with Lab project management organization and DOE; communicates project status and issues through the project management chain.
  • Request and coordinate internal and external peer reviews for projects.
  • Chair the Jefferson Lab’s Conventional Facility Capital Change Control Board for SLI projects.
  • Recommend or approve conventional facility Project Change Requests (PCR) per the approved Project Execution Plan.
  • Identify and manage project risks.
  • Manage the interface and coordination of requirements between the entire portfolio of projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the Federal Project Director for conventional facilities projects.
  • Be responsible for advocating and advancing the goals and objectives of JSA/Jefferson Lab's EEO/AA policies and programs.

    Qualifications We Require:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Engineering or an engineering-related field
    • 15 years applicable experience
    • A minimum of five years of experience at the managerial level in capital construction and/or project management. In-depth familiarity with standard industrial/environmental and safety practices.
    • A minimum of five years of project experience working within DOE 413 guidelines, or equivalent structured project management guidance policy.
    • Current registration as a Project Management Professional, or able to obtain within the first year of employment
    • Current registration as a Certified Construction Manager, or able to obtain within the first year of employment

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and customer groups, including employees in a wide array of occupation and educational backgrounds and to facilitate and lead meetings and work groups.
    • Ability to formulate and manage plans, project scopes, project budget estimates, and business case presentations.
    • Significant experience with facilities and infrastructure planning, design and construction, including project management and cost control of these functions.
    • Knowledge of various building codes and the ability to research and interpret the code requirements.
    • In depth knowledge of construction and industrial safety practices.
