What your job will be like:
Hall D is one of 4 experimental halls at Jefferson Lab. It uses a high-intensity broadband linearly polarized photon beam with energies up to 12 GeV. Several experiments have finished data taking and data is being analyzed:
· Experiment GlueX-I (the 1-st stage) has accumulated the world’s largest photoproduction data with a linear polarized beam in the given energy range. While the main focus is the search for hybrid mesons, other topics are also vigorously studied. The next stage of GlueX (GlueX-II) includes an enhanced PID based on Detector of Internally Reflected Cherenkov light (DIRC) and has collected about 30% of the planned data set.
· Experiments using the Primakoff process (two-photon interaction): A finished experiment CPP/NPP will measure the polarizability of pions, another experiment PrimeX-eta currently running to completion will measure the two-photon coupling of eta mesons.
· Experiment SRC/CT is studying short-range correlations and color transparency in nuclei.
In this Role You Will:
The appointment will be made initially for two (2) years and may be renewed for up to one additional year.
JSA will not sponsor H1B visas for this position
Applicants should upload (a) their CV, (b) research interest/plan and (c) publication list through JLab's online application tracking system.

In addition to applying online applicants should send a copy of application materials to Patricia Cheeseboro electronically
Qualifications We Require:
Education:
A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics
Experience:
Experience working with particle detectors and in analyzing data is required. Previous experience in photo/electro-production physics or meson spectroscopy will be helpful
