What your job will be like:

Jefferson Lab’s Environment, Safety, and Health (ESH) Division is seeking an Electrical Safety Program Lead to continuously assess, develop and implement initiatives to reduce the risks posed by electrical systems to laboratory workers and mission. Come and join our team!

In this role you will:

  • Develop and maintain laboratory policy, procedures and training based on relevant governing standards and best practices
  • Oversee work planning and execution as the primary electrical safety subject matter expert
  • Provide design input into the lab's electrical infrastructure construction, maintenance and repair programs to foster sustainable engineered and administrative controls (such as configuration management and education/training requirements) to promote long term program health
  • Provide design input to experimental and other research and development focused equipment with potential electrical hazards
  • Lead and participate in program assessments and reviews
  • Serve as Electrical Authority Having Jurisdiction, understanding both the technical and business risk associated with those decisions
  • Serve as Chair to the Electrical Safety Committee, reviewing and updating the charter and expectations as necessary
  • Actively participate in the DOE electrical safety community to share lessons learned and best practices
  • Actively participate in subcontractor selection from an electrical safety perspective
  • Manage the laboratory’s selection and maintenance of electrical personal protective equipment where necessary

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited university

Experience:

  • 10 years of experience applying advanced engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Detailed knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E
  • Understanding of safety practices associated with both high and low voltage systems
  • Ability to positively affect work environments and work practices
  • Ability to mentor and train staff at various levels
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risk from the field to the enterprise level
  • Able to effectively train people outside his/her work group.
  • Able to give effective presentations to critical/high level customers and effectively represent work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams.
  • Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.
