Jefferson Lab is seeking a motivated team member to provide technical/electrical support on all aspects of design, install, and maintenance of the electronics and electrical equipment used to monitor and control the target systems used during experiments at Jefferson Lab.

In this role you will:

  • Assist scientists, engineers, and mechanical technicians to design, document, and implement the industrial automation controls used for target systems at Jefferson Lab
  • Design, fabrication, and installation of custom electronic chassis and distribution panels for monitoring and controlling target systems
  • Install and test commercial electronics and electrical equipment for monitoring and controlling target systems
  • Specify electrical power requirements for target installations
  • Perform as a JLab Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) utilizing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other hazardous energy controls to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic and electrical equipment in the Target Group facilities and in the experimental halls
  • Assist in the transport, installation, and removal of target systems and equipment to and from the experimental halls
  • Advise and provide technical support for staff, users, and students conducting research with the Target Group or in the four experimental halls at Jefferson Lab
  • Provide on-call support when needed

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • 12 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Additional education may be substituted for work experience

Education & Experience we prefer:

  • Associate degree in Physics, Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Technology
  • 12 or more years Electrical certification such as a journeyman trade license is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively, both as an individual and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly with others and explain work to other team members via verbal and written explanations, drawings, memos, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend 2D mechanical drawings and process and instrumentation drawings (P&ID)
  • Detailed knowledge of electronics and electrical equipment,
  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic electronic/electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, clamp meters, etc
  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic hand and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, sanders, etc


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities we prefer:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Industrial automation controls,
  • Detailed knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E
  • AutoCAD Electrical Certification Electrical certification such as a journeyman trade license
