What your job will be like:

As a member of the Physics Division, you will support the scientific research programs and related operations support activities of the experimental Halls. Individual will, moreover, play a formal management role in construction of future instrumentation, with a focus initially on MOLLER project management.

In This Role You Will:

  • Provide Managerial-level project support for the MOLLER and future SoLID experiments.
  • Participate in operations support of the 12 GeV scientific program.
  • Stay current with relevant science, detector and technology development trends through research in appropriate journals and scientific meeting attendance, and present results and findings in same.
  • Assist with a variety of design and maintenance efforts related to the 12 GeV and possibly EIC programs as requested and by taking initiative.
  • Collaboration with other staff and the user community, develop expertise in one or more systems critical to the experimental program.
  • Provide, or assist user community in preparing, documentation for safe and effective operation of equipment under position purview.
  • Supervise students, postdocs, as well as scientific and technical staff as required.

Qualifications We Require:

Staff Scientist III

Education, Certifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in physics
  • 10 years of experience in experimental nuclear or high energy physics experimentation
  • 1+ years Project Management experience

Senior Staff Scientist

Education, Certifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in physics
  • 15+ years of experience in experimental nuclear or high energy physics experimentation
  • 3+ years Project Management experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Recognition as expert in broad area of research by international scientific community.
  • Significant expertise in design, maintenance and implementation of nuclear experimental equipment
  • Strong project management interest, experience and ability to support the MOLLER Project.
  • Must be able to give clear, concise presentations at international meetings and conferences.
  • Ability to estimate cost, schedule and manpower requirements for and manage large projects.
  • Should have ingenuity and creativity and the ability to work with a team.
  • Ability to author and co-author publications refereed publications and conference papers.
