What your job will be like:

Are you looking for an opportunity to transfer your classroom training into a hands on engineering work environment? The Electrical Engineering Systems Department is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Student Intern to join our team and work under the guidance of experienced engineers to build and test electrical systems for our electron accelerator. You will improve or maintain equipment and will gain insight on general engineering concepts and technical principles to build on your formal education.

In this role you will:

• Be responsible for the support of engineering staff in the design, maintenance, and repair of accelerator electrical systems.
• Work on PCB testing and repair, soldering, chassis wiring and field cable fabrication and installation.
• Work under general supervision of EES personnel to build and test electrical systems for the accelerator.
• Work within teams on projects to maintain or improve equipment in the accelerator and other supported systems.
• Be trained on Jefferson Lab safety requirements and follow specific guidelines for personnel and environmental safety.

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

• Applicant must be enrolled as a full time student in a four year undergraduate technical program with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Proof of full-time student status and copies of transcripts are required (unofficial copies are acceptable, if followed by official transcripts within 2 weeks).

• Electrical Engineering field of study preferred.
• Coursework in basic electronics and circuit theory desired.
